Toddler Room

Welcome to the Toddler Room!

In our classroom we focus on having a fun environment where children can learn through play. We are always incorporating activities which help encourage children to use their fine and gross motor skills as well as use their creativity and imagination.

Each month, you will receive a monthly calendar which shows you all the exciting topics we will be discussing that month. You will also see what each “Show ‘N’ Tell” day will be for the week. This is when your child can bring something in from home that goes along with our weekly theme. This activity opens the door for discussions at home as well as leads for great conversations during Circle Time.

Every morning your child will participate in sensory activities, a circle time, and create an art project that goes along with our weekly theme. Circle time is always an exciting part of our morning. This is when we can sit down and talk about the calendar, check the weather, have a group discussion, read a story, sing songs, and practice our colors, shapes, and sounds. After circle time it is time for the children to make an art project. This is where we can really see the children’s creative side start to shine. Every child has their own art gallery on our walls. We encourage all parents to walk around the classroom and look at the art projects their child has been working so hard on.

When the children are not participating in circle or art time, they are free to use their imagination all throughout our classroom. We have many different activities for the children to play with. The children can play in our Dramatic play area, color a picture, dance to music, work on puzzles, play with play-doh, build things in our block/lego center, or even get comfy and read a book in our story time area. This free time allows for conversations to develop as well as lots of one on one attention with our staff members.

Weather permitting, we go out twice a day. We go out once in the morning and then again in the afternoon.

Potty training is a big milestone in our classroom to prepare them for the transition in the preschool classroom. Each child develops at their own pace which is why we have open communication with the parents regarding potty training.

Every night you will receive a Comment Card. Your child’s teacher will share with you the daily happenings that your child has participated in. This includes diaper changes, naps, feedings, and the fun things we did during the day.
